Food drive tomorrow

Hopefully we will be able to land a big quantity of food tomorrow for the Toledo Gospel Rescue Mission.  We will be delivering this food on Tuesday.

OCC Delivery

Last Tuesday we delivered 103 operation Christmas Child Boxes.  And also help unload 130 or so for another church as well.

Wednesday we cleaned the youth room again, got it set up and looking real nice with the pool table, pong table, and foosball.  The teaching circle is pretty sweet now as well, with an end table every couple chairs.  Should be a great environment.  (The youth worked hard Wednesday night!)

More Service on Thurs and Sun

This past Thursday we raked a very large yard with very thick leaves.  We had 8 youth involved and it took about two hours.  They were not slacking either, it was a big job.

Sunday morning our youth helped the children pack Operation Christmas Child boxes.  Sunday afternoon a couple youth helped sort the boxes and assure the younger kids packed them right.

Sunday evening Sr. High youth passed out 200 leaflets concerning the food drive we are conducting next week.

All in all we had a good weekend of service.

Tomorrow we are delivering the OCC boxes... and we are still looking for our service project on Thursday for ProjectCBO.

WOW Raking - And impromptu Sr. High Service

Great work by the W.O.W. students today as well as the 2 Senior High Crew Leaders, and 4 adults, they raked 4 yards bringing our total for the year to 8.  We have one more yard that Sr. High is doing tomorrow after school.  It is a huge yard with mucho leaves.

Yesterday, 7 Sr. High Students came after school for an impromptu furniture moving at one of our older congregation member's house.  We moved a couple of couches and a sofa table, as well as a number of pieces of China.  After that, we headed over to move a pool table out of a couple's house and into our youth room.  They wanted to get rid of it, and we wanted to take it!  It took all eight of us to move it!!

Good work!

Diaper Drive Details

A lady who received our flyer for the Diaper Drive when we were giving them out at the polling places emailed me today.  She is the director of a Pro-Life Org and wanted to participate in our drive.  She will be sending out 4500 newsletters which will include info on our drive!  God's providence at work!

Harbor House

A couple youth and three leaders went to the harbor house and made clothing racks for the ladies there.

What a great experience it was, they provided us with tacos and it was a blessing to us to fellowship with them.

Special thanks to Bill who led the project for us.

Leaf Raking

Today 3 students responded to a txt message sent earlier in the day and came up to the church immediately after school.  We raked a yard of an elderly couple who needed it done so the gentleman could get to and from the car without slipping on the leaves.

What may seem small (3 students) is pretty impressive to me.  This was a job that was requested when I received a call at noon today.  The kids were at school, they got the message between classes (txt), within 3 hours they were raking.  Unplanned service shows the hearts of these kids and their willingness to do real service as opposed to sitting around eating potato chips and playing video games.

potential service - pregnancy crisis center / michindoh / emergency afterschool rake job

I spoke with the director of the local pregnancy crisis center and she gave me some great ideas about how we can help them.  Our lessons the next two weeks are on dating and relationships, so doing a service for the center simply makes sense right now.

I have also spoken with the people at camp Michindoh, and they will have a couple service projects available to us on the weekends that our Jr. High as well as our Sr. High are there.  This will add a missional worship component to this retreat.

Today I have sent a message out to various youth to gather them for leaf raking of one yard.  The elderly who live on the property are having difficulty getting two and from their car.  Will post later tonight if this gets accomplished.

A number of other projects are in the works as well.  We are really trying to shift the culture of youth min at MUMC.

2 Beds

Today one leader and two youth assembled two Sauder Furniture type beds for a woman who was physically unable to do so.
